I'll be doing a more detailed guide to Seoul (for people whom might be interested...?)
I went for around 6days (in 2013)
I flew on the 9th October (supposingly wednesday), but 8th October, i was already on my way to changi airport. I flew back on the 14th October, but touched down around 12 midnight, so it was actually 15th October already.
My dad brought a giant luggage, with a cabin luggage inside.
My mum and I brought one.
Apparently the cabin luggage was filled with my dad's clothes and the giant luggage was filled with skincare/shopping list of my relatives and my mum's friend's -.- we didnt really shop for our selves.
Flew by: Korean Air (roughly $700++ per pax, price in 2013)
Flight time was 0100(GST+8) and we reach there around 8/9am (KST)
Pros: It's korean's airline, with korean air stewardess and korean food, and nothing much impressive thou.
Cons: Language wise I guess?
Min's tip: Might try Scoot (transit at Taipei) or Singapore Airline or Cathay Pacific (transit at HongKong) But you can stick to Korean Air if you can understand Korean.
Stayed at: Vestin Residences
Pros: Myeong Dong. Skincare street.
Cons: I wouldn't recommend to stay there even though it's near the subway exit. BECAUSE THERE ARE NO LIFT INSIDE THE RESIDENCES BUILDING. Had to carry my 11kg luggage up 5 storeys, and 15kg luggage down 5 storeys.
Min's tip: I might try booking via airbnb the next time I visit Seoul again. Might also try staying in Dong Dae Mun instead. Since the food stalls starts at 9pm and ends around 4am to 5am. But this apartment looks cool too here)
Data roaming: Olleh Egg Wifi.
Pros: Wifi everywhere you go:)
Cons: My dad was the one with the egg, so whenever we get separated, no more wifi. Other than that, it's awesome.
Min's tip: I actually rent it from some korean website, instead of olleh itself. So when i first got the egg, it was flat out. So had to charge it with portable charger when i went out. Cuz we needed the wifi. (Mainly for my dad to check his email and for me, instagram)
Money: 1SGD: 833WON like that. Now it's higher i think!
Min's tip: Erms, try to change more and ask for better rate! I changed my money at my house area. Idk about chinatown or boon lay's rate though.
Airport Transfer: Airport Bus.
Pros: Don't have to carry the luggage the entire time.
Cons: Limited bus stops to alight at. They don't alight at exactly your hotel. The nearest bus stop to our residences was Hotel Sejung.
We went down Exit 10, walk pass the subway, to get to Exit 1, (cuz couldn't find any traffic light or zebra crossing) but i did managed to find a zebra crossing later in the afternoon of our day 1 there.
Min's tip: Try to stay somewhere near the bus stops that airport bus stops. And of course, please take note that their subway doesn't have lifts...
Travelling around Seoul:
Min's tip: Buy their T-money card!!! Per trip is 1250won. It's like $1plus only. 10stations also 1250won!!! 1 station also lah.
I wanted the rilakkuma t money phone keychain.. But it was 8000over won. Didn't want to waste my money so i didn't buy. And i regretted :( Because i could use it the next time i go seoul again.
